Sanjuanero Huilense

Outfits  Description

Female outfit
First of all, typical dresses were inspired on ancestor’s outfits. However, they were improved by the couples to ease the movements in dance. So, the woman’s blouse is white and it is surrounded by washers and pieces of lace. It is adorned with sequins and has a zipper behind it.

The skirt is made of colorful satin and has floral arrangements done in oil. Sometimes it has drawings of flowers in pieces of silk which go with the blouse. Also, the skirt is long, wide and has underskirt which is essential to do different steps and figures.

The man’s outfit is very simple, but it is very important in dance. Some of the most primordial elements used by the man are the hat which is made of straw; the white curly shirt which has buttons in the middle and it is decorated with sequins and pieces of lace.

In the same way, man’s pants should be black or white and has to have pleats.
