My Eyes' Operation

On December 26^th, 2012, my eyes were operated in Popayan. I was only 17 years old when all things were going to change at that time. I began my day getting up at seven to be in the Fundaciòn Oftalmològica Vejarano. I had to be 2 hours before the surgery so that the ophthalmologist and staff could have all the instruments ready to start. Also, I had to use comfortable clothes so that I could take it off quickly and put on a kind of hospital suit with a cap. This was to assure I was as comfortable as possible. 

Then, I entered to a hall alone where there were other rooms and doctors too. A nurse applied drops on my eyes to anesthetize them, so I could not feel any pain. The place was a little cold but I was calm. Then, I had to get into a small room and it was like a fridge, so cold. There were four people, one of them was the surgeon. After, I lay down on a bed and an assistant gave me two balls made of foam to squeeze them. Then, he wrapped me up with some blankets because I was freezing. Then, the surgeon took a tool to open my eyelids in my right eye first. It did not hurt. 

After that, he used another instrument to cut circularly my cornea. It did not hurt either. Then, he used a laser to burn some parts of the pupil while I looked at a red light. The sound of the laser was similar when you try to turn an electric stove on. The process was the same with the other eye. But, it did hurt when the doctor tried to open the eyelids. After a while, they finished and put a bandage on my eyes. Finally, I left the room and I dressed to go home.

Two hours after the operation, I began feeling a pain in my eyes and I had to have a pill for it. Then, I went to the ophthalmologist’s office in order to examine my new eyes. He said that the surgery was successful and I had no longer those two ocular diseases called Myopia and Astigmatism. In the same way, I had to take care of my eyes at least one week. I could not watch TV, exercise, go to the swimming pool nor use my computer. Also, I had to wear dark glasses for two months because sunlight could damage the healing process on my eyes. Besides, I had to use drops for eyes to avoid dryness on them for five months. Now, six years later, I am good and I can see perfectly.

The Country I Want To Visit

There are many countries to visit in the world and all of them have their history, customs, traditions and different aspects that make them special. But, one of the most fabulous countries to worth visiting is the United States. This is a place with many touristic sites which are very interesting. There are also several sports which Americans enjoy practicing. In the same way, American cuisine is very delicious and there are many exquisite recipes. These are the aspects I like about this country

Firstly, one of the most entertaining places to visit is Yellowstone National Park. Here, there are many geysers and colorful thermal areas, as well as wildlife such as bison, wolves, deer and grizzly bears. In addition, I would like to visit Manhattan which is one of the neighborhoods in New York City. In this place there attractive sites such as 5th Avenue, Times Square and the Statute of Liberty. Furthermore, Florida Keys are very fantastic these are a 120 mile long chain of tropical islands connected by some bridges. The most interesting of this place is that many movies have been filmed here like Fast and Furious. All of these sites are worth visiting with your family.

Moreover, different kinds of sports are very played in the United States and some of them can be dangerous. For instance, football is a so known sport and played by many people, but it is extreme because football players might suffer many injuries. Another rough sport could be hockey because there is much physical contact and sometimes the players tend to be aggressive. On the other hand, there other sports which are played or enjoyed in family such as baseball or basketball. American families usually spend time practicing baseball which is the most popular in this country. I would really like to practice or see baseball or hockey because I have never played or see them.

In addition, I would like to taste American food because it is a blend of many cultures, so the flavors would have to be different. For example, Tex-Mex is a dish very popular in Texas and it is prepared with chili, burritos and grated cheese. Other types of delightful food are corn dogs, banana splits, cupcakes and sub sandwiches. The latter it is about a 30cm-long bread with ham, cheese, sliced tomatoes, onions and lettuce. It would be funny to have one of these.

To sum up, United States is a country with so many interesting elements which make it special. These aspects are its wonderful sites such as Florida Keys and Times Square which many people visit every day. Likewise, the variety of sports which can be played with family such as baseball. In the same way, the different types of food that we can find here like a sub sandwich. That’s why this country is so interesting and I would like to visit.
